A Beautiful Mom

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, what better time to share a little story about a mom who is beautiful in my eyes…

She raised four kids and was a stay-at-home mom for many years. While her kids were young, her days often consisted of making homemade meals, keeping the house clean, changing cloth diapers, doing laundry, putting bandages on scraped knees, driving her kids to doctor’s appointments and singing lullabies to her kids at bedtime… just to name a few things.

Being a mom came natural to her.

She gave so much and never asked for anything in return. Her selfless spirit always made sure the needs of her kids were taken care of, before she took care of herself.

Her natural patience with little kids is amazing. Yes she faced some challenges as every mom does, but her nurturing and loving spirit always seemed to shine through… and it still does.

Her season as a stay-at-home mom eventually came to an end. She became a single mom and eventually a full-time working mom. Times were tough for a while and it was a struggle to make ends meet. Other family came alongside her and tried to help how they could.

Through it all, she did not give up but instead made the choice to persevere.  Her four kids were her motivation to keep going, especially through the difficult times. She always kept their best interest in mind and loved them dearly. It was evident that she would do anything for her kids.

While she wishes that she could have given her kids more, what she may not realize is that she gave them something SO MUCH MORE than any amount of money can buy. She gave them unconditional love. She showed them grace. She taught them perseverance and she made sacrifices for them time and time again.

Her kids are now grown and some are married with kids of their own. She now claims the proud title of “Grandma” and she loves all her grand-babies so much. She continues to find so much joy in being a mom today and of course, a grandma too.

She may be an ordinary person, but she is an EXTRAORDINARY mom.

She loves the Lord and she is beautiful from the inside out—A true hero in my eyes.

I admire her. I respect her. I am forever grateful to her.

And yes…

She is my beautiful mom.

I know it is a little early, but Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful Mom and to all the other mom’s out there! Your role as a mom matters so much. Keep on keeping on…

Many Blessings,

  1. Over the years I watched your mom give her time, energy and endless love to her children. There were times when she didn’t have anything left to give, but she always found that extra part of herself that allowed her to keep on going and giving. You are so right, she is an absolutely extraordinary person and mother! Happy Mother’s Day to you both!

    • Thanks for your beautiful and kind words Linda! God has blessed me with an incredible mom and I know she has been a blessing to many others too. I’m so glad you stopped by and left a comment. Thank you!! I’ve always been thankful to have you as an Aunt. Love you and Hugs, Hannah
